Prepare the chicken while watching the video.
Rinse the glutinous rice 3–4 times and soak in water.
Stuff the chicken cavity with 5 whole garlic cloves, a pinch of salt, and 3T glutinous rice in order.
Score the legs, cross them, and secure them in place.
Place the remaining glutinous rice in a dashi bag.
Add 2L of water and the herbal pack to a pot, and boil for 5 more minutes from the boiling point.
Add the chicken, 10 whole garlic cloves, 1 green onion, the glutinous rice dashi bag, and 1T fine salt; once it boils, reduce to low heat, cover, and simmer for 60 minutes.
Serve the samgye chicken, fresh chives, and broth in a bowl.
