Trim the base of the aralia shoots, remove outer leaves, and scrape the thorns off the stems with a knife.
Make a + cut into the thick base of each shoot.
Wash under running water 2-3 times to remove all dirt and residue.
Blanch in boiling salted water for 1 minute.
Press the leafy parts with your hand to squeeze out excess water.
Coat each aralia shoot in frying batter mix, then dip in beaten egg, and pan-fry 3-4 at a time in a well-heated pan. (Make sure the pan and oil are fully heated before adding.)
