Rinse under running water to remove bone fragments, then soak in cold water for 30-60 minutes to drain blood.
Drain the blood water, rinse in cold water, then add 1.5L cider and soak for 30 more minutes.
Drain cider and trim excess fat from the LA ribs with scissors.
Blend half each of onion, Korean pear, and apple in a blender, then strain through cheesecloth to get just the juice.
In a bowl, mix fruit juice, 1 cup water, 1 cup dark soy sauce, 2T sugar, 2T sesame oil, 1T black pepper to make the marinade.
Layer the marinade and LA ribs alternately and marinate for at least 1 hour.
Add 1T cooking oil to a pan and grill over high heat, flipping as needed.
